"Honda Activa E Debuts as India’s First Electric Scooter with Swappable Batteries and Smart Connectivity"
Honda Activa E: India’s First Swappable Battery Electric Scooter
Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India (HMSI) has launched the highly anticipated Activa E, marking its entry into the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market. Tailored specifically for Indian consumers, the Activa E offers innovative swappable battery technology and advanced connectivity, setting a benchmark in the country’s growing EV sector.
The Activa E is equipped with dual 1.5 kWh swappable batteries, delivering a combined range of 102 km. With three riding modes—Econ, Standard, and Sport—it caters to diverse needs, offering a top speed of 80 kmph in Sport mode. The addition of reverse mode enhances convenience, particularly in tight urban spaces. Its peak motor output of 6.0 kW and torque of 22 Nm ensure smooth and efficient performance.
Designed with urban consumers in mind, the Activa E comes with Honda’s RoadSync Duo, enabling Bluetooth connectivity for navigation and calls. Stylish design elements like LED lighting, alloy wheels, and front disc brakes add to its premium appeal. Available in two variants—Standard and Sync Duo—the scooter comes in five elegant colors, including Pearl Igneous Black and Matt Foggy Silver Metallic.
Scheduled to hit the market in Spring 2025, the Activa E will initially launch in Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. It will leverage Honda’s e:Swap battery-sharing network, allowing users to exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones, enhancing convenience for city commuters.
In addition to the Activa E, Honda has unveiled the QC1, a compact electric scooter designed for short commutes. With a range of 80 km, a single 1.5 kWh battery, and features like a 5-inch LCD display, USB Type-C port, and under-seat storage, the QC1 offers a practical solution for urban mobility.
The launch of the Activa E aligns with Honda’s global strategy to introduce 30 electric models by 2030. It reflects the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility, with a focus on eco-friendly transportation solutions for India’s evolving urban landscape.
